BLOG/DIGITAL KEEPSAKE

About Me: I am a Chicana photographer born and based in Tucson, Az. My introduction to photography began during my junior year of high school (2021-2022), shooting off of my 35 mm point & shoot Olympus film camera. During this era of my adolescence I did not take photography as serious, then, I thought of it more as just documenting my most youthful time of my life and creating my very own high school “Yearbook”. I wanted my very own photos to resonate with. I shot film all the way up until August 2023, I learned how to shoot digital with a Canon Rebel T7 for a class at the university. After graduating high school in 2023, I was flustered with the indecisiveness of my major. For a really long time I thought I was going to end up in the filmmaking realm. But after long and critical thinking, I ended up declaring my major as a Photography, Videography, & Imaging student at the University of Arizona. Over the past year and a half as a photographer I have become much more comfortable with conceptual, show, fashion, and digital photography, along with learning to direct my own photography. Someday I see myself residing in New York as a freelancing and/or a directing photographer that specializes mostly in film photography. I’ll forever continue my journey with digital photography but film will forever have me by the heart.
As an artist, I am very inspired and influenced by many artists and themes. Music, fashion, photographing, film, and collaging are all mediums that I’ve deeply resonated with artistically. Much of my conceptual work reflects a combination of these themes. For example, i’ll listen to a song and visualize a scene that eventually inspires an idea for a shoot.
